Sure, I love cooking a wide variety of tasty and healthy recipes, but some of my favorite go-to recipes are my simple curry recipes. Even before I started cooking for myself I would grind up spices in a coffee mill to make my own curry powder. In my spice cabinet, it always seems like I'm running out of turmeric. What can I say? My love affair with curry recipes is too deep.

Take a virtual trip to Lima, Peru without leaving Houston. Eater Houston's Chef of the Year 2011, Roberto Castre, is offering a six-course tasting menu which includes his ceviche mercado, a passionfruit tiradito, duck confit over cilantro rice, veal osso bucco on puree of purple potatoes, braised lamb stew accompanied by Peruvian style risotto, and a delectable chocolate hazelnut custard with white chocolate and pisco.

Try a crockpot lamb shanks bone with lots of veggies in it especially potatoes. You could use almost any veggies in it including spinach, carrots, turnips, pumpkin, etc. A good way to go is to blend the veggies together with the potato providing the thickening. Another alternative is to add some alphabet noodles cut into animal shapes. The kids get so engrossed in the interesting animals they hardly notice they have eaten the soup.

The New Zealander's specialty, however, is its meat-filled pub pies. They are delicious. These pastry-like "snacks" come in a variety of flavors -- mince, mince with cheese, steak with cheese, lamb curry, minted lamb, chicken with mushroom, curried vegetable, and spinach with feta - a pie for every taste bud. But if you're in the mood for a good, old-fashioned burger and fries, the American Burger with Roasted Reds ranks as one of my personal favorites.

Lamb is a tasty meal that does take a little bit of a tender handling. Overcooking a good cut of lamb can dry it out. Lamb is leaner than some other meats such as beef and pork that many are familiar with.

About 23 miles from the heart of Wilmington and 14 miles from the Delaware state line, The Whip Tavern is well worth the drive. The restaurant is quite literally in the middle of nowhere, surrounded by farms and rolling hills, which The Whip affectionately calls "horse country". There isn't even any cell phone service, but considering the atmosphere of the pub, you don't need to make a call because you're surrounded by 100 of your spicy lamb curry friends.

The market and grill prices an entire rotisserie chicken at only $5.25. Beat that HEB! Stuffed grape leaves (dolmas) are $.65 each. Spinach or Feta Pies are less than $1 and a chicken roll is $1.25.
